Pandawa Lost Playing Dice
At
one time in the kingdom of Amarta, the Pandawa were challenged by the Kurawa to
play dice. The loser must leave Amarta for 13 years. And whoever won can rule
the entire majestic Amarta kingdom. Then, the Pandawa played dice against the
Kurawa. Greedily, Kurawa won the challenge.
And
according to the agreement, the state of Amarta was controlled by the Kurawa.
The Pandawa were expelled and carried out the agreed punishment, which had to
leave the Amarta kingdom for 13 years. For 12 years the Pandawa had to survive
in the dark forest and far from the kingdom of Amarta. This is a difficult
thing they have to go through. Because of Kurawa's greed, they had to leave
their own kingdom.
A
year, after 12 years of living in the forest, the Pandawa must finished their
next punishment. They thought which kingdom they should hide. Because Pandawa
must live in a kingdom without their identities known. If their whereabouts are
known to the Kurawa, the punishment will be repeated from the beginning.
When
the remaining punishment was 1 year, the Pandawa decided to stay in the Kingdom
of Wiratha with a new identity. Dewi Drupadi disguised as a perfume maker with
the named Salindri. Puntadewa disguised as a Brahmin in the kingdom of Wiratha
under the named Dwijakangka. Werkudara disguised himself as a butcher under the
name Bilawa. While Arjuna became an art teacher by the name of Wrehatnala. While
Nakula and Sadewa became breeders of horses and cows with the name Tanti and
Pala.
In
the kingdom of Wiratha, Pandawa could live in peace and security as ordinary
people. Nobody is suspicious, because they work diligently. Puntadewa could
carried out his duties well as a royal adviser. Wrehatnala could create new
music that is pleasant to hear. In fact, Bilawa was loved by his master because
he is diligent, honest, and willing to work hard. For his master, the arrival
of Bilawa brought many advantages. Bilawa was considered his own son by his
master.
They
really lived safely without interruption. Even the Kurawa never found them with
that disguised. But one day…
The
Kurawa came to the Wiratha kingdom with Astina troops and looted the wealth of
the citizens of the Wiratha kingdom. Residents fled to other kingdoms, even
hide in the forest. The incident
disturbed the calm of the Pandawa who had previously lived peacefully. Despite
pretending to be ordinary people, Pandawa still remember who they really are.
They are still a knights who must protect others who need help and strength. Puntadewa
as Dwijakangka asked his brothers to fight the Kurawa and his evil forces.
Durna
teacher became the commander who led the Kurawa army in this attack. When he
reached the battlefield, Commander Durna confronted Wrehatnala directly. But
actually, Commander Durna knew that Wrehatnala was Arjuna in disguise.
Wrehatnala ordered him to leave with the troops he was carrying. If not,
Wrehatnala will challenge them to compete with their respective strengths. With
his appearance as an ordinary person, actually Wrehatnala still has the heart
of a knight. He even opposed his teacher for the safety of the people of
Wiratha
Durna
hesitated when challenged to attack. Because he knew that in front of him is
his former student, Arjuna. There was no way he would attack his favorite
student who was like his own son. He regretted obeying the evil Kurawa's
request, then he cried because he remembered the past with his former student. He
thought hard to face this difficult situation.
Finally
he decided to lie, so as not to fought with his former student. Commander Durna
ordered the Kurawa and Astina troops to retreat. He lied and said if this war
continued, then Kurawa and his troops would be killed. That frightened his army
and finally succeeded in making his army retreat.
Finally,
Durna, Kurawa, and troops from the kingdom of Astina retreated. After the
troops from the Astina kingdom left the Wiratha kingdom, the Pandawa learned
that the punishment given to them had been completed. And finally, Dwijakangka,
Bilawa, Wrehatnala, Tanti and Pala acknowledged their true identities, that they
are children of Pandu Dewanata commonly called Pandawa. The real ruler of the
Amarta kingdom.
